

This tutorial will teach you to create more complicate button icon or Orb effect Icon using Illustrator.
Form 3 different size circles with no fill.

Tips: Using Ctrl+C and Ctrl+F will make it easier.
Fill the smallest circle with a gradient. Make sure the gradient type is RADIAL.

Make a 4th circle.

Now, draw a curve using pen tool.

Position the curve on top the 4th circle. Choose both the 4th circle and the curve. Select Pathfinder Window. Click DIVIDE. After dividing the 4th circle BREAK it using Ctrl+Shift +G
Choose the upper part. Give it a White to Black (Full) gradient. Make sure the gradient Type is LINEAR. Change angle to 270 degrees. Pick the dot between the gradient and change the location to 65%.

For the bottom part, fill with the same gradient as above with the angle 90 degree.

Choose the upper part. At the transparency window, change the attribute to Screen. Opacity to 80%.

Same as the above, for the bottom part change the attribute to Multiply. You can also try this with SCREEN. Change Opacity to 10%.

Make an ellipse and fill it with White - Black (full) - White gradient. Change angle to 90 degrees.
Change its attribute to SCREEN at transparency window and opacity to 80%. The button is done 80%.

Fill the outer circle with gradient.

Fill the last circle behind with the same gradient tone.
Remove their outline. The button is done. Let's put some icon in it.
Draw a star using star tool.
